Moab area of Utah

We are planning a trip to Moab area of Utah the last week of October and first of November. This is an area we have never
viisted so we would like input regarding campgrounds and weather, We have a fifth wheel. Thank you so much. Always get great info here.

Mvpmich, I think that is Mesa arch on Hyway 313 as U head toward Islands in the Sky, not Casa arch. Anyways...Must do/See list in Moab area...Mesa Arch!!! Islands in the Sky overlook. Drive the easy dirt road to see Gemini Bridges
(don't try the 'Hard route except in a Jeep). See DeadHorse point lookout, look just below this point to see Shaffer trail road. Rent a Jeep & drive down the Shaffer trail Switchbacks, on Rt 313, go along the canyon bottom, on Shaffer trail road to reach Hyway 279 towards Moab, but turn left at the Jug Handle arch sign, cross the rail track,& follow the easy dirt road under the giant, fallen rock(Pucker Point) & to the top of Long canyon. Stop at the top for one of Americas great views! We always stay at Arch View CG. Its a bit rustic, but full hookups, great views. BTW; tell em you don't need a 'Preferred' site or they try to give ya one, Too expensive. Our other favorite CG is River bend view on the north side of the bridge just out of Moab. Nice shade from the sun.
Gotta see Arches Nat'l Pk. Do a day Drive on Rt.128 to Castle Valley.

We were there the first week of Nov. and it snowed and rained, heavy fog also. The farther south we went the better the weather but still cool. then met the snow again in Grand Canyon.

Moab is AWESOME! Loved it when we were there a couple of years ago.

We stayed at Dead Horse Point and loved it. The sites aren't long and some have a decent slope to them but they have electric. We tend to avoid the RV parks/resorts if possible so I can't comment on the ones in Moab. Whatever you do, do not miss the sunset at DHP. I'm not sure how late in the year they are open.

We stayed one night at Big Bend on UT 128. It's a gorgeous BLM CG. No hook ups but lots of cliffs & stars & the Colorado.

Moab is a great place to explore, I would suggest staying at Arch View RV Park due to it location, we've stayed there ourselves. Being just about three miles from the entrance from Arches NP and SR313 leading to Canylands NP and dead Horse Point SP.

There is a martket in Moab called City Market and is the place to go for groceries, good prices and the lower cost fuel are around there.
If you want to explore any of the White Rim Trail you can rent a Jeep or go on one of the many tours that Moab offers.

A great place to eat at is the Moab Berwery, parking is tight there and you pass the City Market to get there.

In the Trck Camper forum there are many post trip reports on and around Moab.

We visited Moab this summer on our way to our daughters wedding in CA. Great area. It's not a large town and everything is fairly close so you could stay almost anywhere. We stayed at the KOA south of town. Great views and large spaces. They close the pool early at night though.
