More Colorado route questions

Pulling 32' travel trailer to Colorado for in-state adventure 6/11-6/17. Several issues on my mind (and if there is a forum rule on too many questions in one post, I'm probably guilty)
1. Will travel from Santa Fe to Montrose up 285. Pro's/Con's on
going to Poncha Springs/Salida to pick up 50, versus taking the 160/149 cut NW from Alamosa?? re: drive-ability, scenery, etc.

2. Next leg is from Montrose to Manitou Springs. Obviously take 50 east, but at Poncha Springs/Salida would you recommend taking 50/115 east and up, or 24 north and around. Any RV drive-ability problems with the section of 50 between Montrose and Poncha Springs?

3. While at Montrose we want to book a jeep ride up the Alpine trail if it is open by then. Any recommendations on a jeep outfitter in Ouray?

4. Considering a run up to Rocky Mountain NP at the end of the trip but it's a long way out of our way headed back home to Ala. I understand the road thru the park is 48 miles, but that dumps you out at a point almost 100 miles from where you started (34-40-I70-119-72-7):
A) I assume it would not be advisable to pull the trailer the 48 miles of hiway 34 thru the park. Is that accurate?
B) An recommendations on what town/parks to camp in this 140 mile loop for 2 nights (preferably without bears in the CG)
B) The park doesn't open until 6/1, I assume due to snow, and we would be there 6/18. What are the chances it doesn't actually open by then?
C) Are there other drives in the southern half of Colorado that are similar? I anticipate RMNP is spectacular, but if there was a drive 80% as nice but only 20% out of our way that might be something to consider.

Thanks for your input.
