Asking for best route sometimes does not generate the answers that you want 1
Best scenic , fastest , most malls, etc . I want to never or hardly ever get on an interstate highway . Best for me would be small roads and small towns , mom and pop restaurants . - wanderingbobExplorer IIAsking for best route sometimes does not generate the answers that you want 1

Best for me would be small roads and small towns , mom and pop restaurants . - 2BNOT2BExplorerWelcome to RV.net Mike. My recommendation: From Natchez take 84/425 to Ferriday, LA continue West on 84 to 28 West. 28 West to Alexandria, LA. Pick up I-49 north to exit 86, go to MacArthur Drive (71) South. Take exit west bound toward Leesville, LA this is Hwy 28 West. Follow 28 West to traffic circle, (Intersection of 28 & 171).
At this points you have options; If your Rig is 12' 2" or more do not follow Hwy 8 into Texas out of Leesville, Bridge clearance will not allow at Texas Louisiana Line.
If you are over 12'2" stay on 171 south to South of Rosepine, LA and take 190 bypass to Newton/Jasper, TX. Continue to follow 190 to Livingston, TX, take 59/I-69 South to Houston, TX. Two options; take Belt way 8 to I-10 or continue on to 610 Loop.
Campgrounds: Vidalia, LA has Riverside Campground just across the river from Natchez. New Caney, TX has Forest Retreat (make a res) 281 354-9888. This will put you about half way to SA.
Safe travels, Bill.
