Nevada Hwy 50
Looking at crossing Nevada on Hwy 50 that goes from Carson City to Ely and into Utah. Has anyone driven that route and is it a good road? Understand it is "lonesome" and few towns but there seems ...

Yes it is a good road but it is known as "The lonliest" road in America for very good reasons. Be sure and gas up before leaving Ely. There are very few places to stop for the night, not much in Eureka. We found a nice little campground just east of Austin.
Lots of mountain passes and you will find yourself well above 6,000+' for most of the drive. Would not want to try it in winter and know that the weather can change very quickly.
It is a great drive with magnificent scenery but be sure your rig is in excellent shape as much of the ride you will have neither cell coverage or much of a shoulder. All in all quite and adventure as it was on my "To do" list for years. We drove our 24' Class C west out of Cedar City and then north on 93 to Ely. That stretch of 93 could easily be condsidered just as lonely as 50.
I hope to get back up that way and ride it eastbound on my motorcycle, probably a whole different ride.
