New highway south from Nuevo Laredo?

The east-west highways being Even numbered and north-south being Odd numbered is not consistant. Mexico 200 runs from Tepic south, for hundreds of kilometers. This maybe the only road not following the Odd/Even designation, but it is one.

The stretch going South from Nuevo Laredo to Monterrey is 85 and there is 85D the toll toad, it is not new it has been there for some time.

Highway 85 starts in Nuevo Laredo and goes all the way to Mexico City, there is a small stretch North of Mexico City that is also a toll road again designated 85D, all regular highways are in red and all toll roads are in green and have the letter" D " behind the number as in 85D, look closely at the maps and you will notice that the libramientos around some towns are in green, examples are San Luis Potosi, Matehuala, Saltillo, Monterrey, etc, etc.

I have been driving in Mexico on and off since 1965.

X2 and a very scenic road to take instead of the notorious Hwy 83 in Texas.

I personally think the problem is that Guia Roji is simply not very reliable.

Hyways 2 and 2D start in Tijuana and 2D ends in Mexicali, 2 continues along the border and stops East of Ciudad Juarez at El Porvenir, latter on it starts again at the Presa de la Amistad following the border all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

My Google Map shows 2 as following the border - east west. 85 libre and toll are where they should be but no 2D. I tried Earth View as well - 2D....it's not there.

I use Google Maps. You can go to the picture and look at it from the air.

Don't you have to have some sort of internet to do that? We also use Google Earth as well as street view in GE. But if we can't be online we need a GPS with the latest maps. In Mexico we need to be able to find our way even when we cannot get any kind of internet connection.

Personally I find Guia Roji to be not very useful - opinions vary. Very limited information. We use GPS. Also look at the SCT maps. I think the red is 85 and the green is 85D.

Thanks Briansue. I'll stick with 85. Mexico seems to follow US & Canada with the even numbered routes being east/west and the odd numbered routes going north/south making this 2D even more odd since it definitely is a North/South route.
