we're travelling to atlantic provinces next week from Ontario, done the trip many times and we know southern nb well

this time we're going around the gaspe peninsula starting at riviere du loup, ending up at cambellton nb.

there are two "major" highways from cambellton to Fredericton, go southwest from cambellton to the trans Canada(hwy 2) at st leonard or south east through Bathurst/mirimachi/doaktown

ive done the mirimachi route, its pretty decent, anybody gone the other way?

mapquest says 4 hours either way, pretty optimistic I'm sure!

So, ask your GPS. Then if you're looking for something different, you'll get it. & say, as you drive more slowly look at the structure of the houses. Can you tell the difference between French and English, 19th c. , 20th c or 21st c. Betcha barns change.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.

From Grand falls, the route 105 along the Saint John river is a slower pace but much nicer if you are not in a rush.

done that route too, and the old number two before the new highway was built which is sooooooo boring!

Road was fine, very little traffic, a few small towns, otherwise mostly forests...saw a couple of moose by the road. Other than that, your basic point A to B highway ride.

that's great to hear!!

ive gone on that road before but years ago. the Bathurst/mirimachi route is ok but we'll miss the hartland bridge, a favourite stop
