Northeast Southern New England . . .When?

That would be Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware.

I had originally planned this trip for the last week of June into all of July, but as I think more about it I wonder if waiting until September might be better. I will appreciate comments from any of you who are more familiar with this area than I am.

Sept thru early Oct are excellent times for NE, but after labor day when its very busy.
Order is illusion. Chaos is reality. But right or wrong I'm still the captain. 🙂

I also agree with crowe. My wife and I went last September when a light bulb went off that we are somewhat "empty nesters" in a way. With one son married and the other in college, we had no reason to have to go away during the summer, and can get away whenever the opportunity arises with the work schedule. It was probably the best time we ever have gotten away. Still warm enough to sit on the beach, without the crowds, and campgrounds were less crowded and quiet. Go in September, and you will not regret it. Have a safe trip.

September is probably the best weather in southern New England. It is also less crowded. I'd go then.

September will give you what's usually the best of New England weather, less crowds, less need for reservations, and the beginning of fair season. Unless you hit northern Vermont & NH at the end of September, you will most likely be too early for the foliage change. June into July is the peak of peak summer season. The tradeoff is there will be less crowds in Sept but some attractions either close or reduce their hours. Labor Day weekend will require reservations, as will 4th of July weekend and the weeks on either side. What do you want to do while you are visiting? That will help determine when the better time to be here is.
