Towing a travel trailer on I-95 is terrifying......speeding trucks, weaving, speeding cars, inconsiderate drivers.
Does anyone have experience with taking Rt. 17, and if so how much longer did it take? Or is there some other route that is less stressful?
Not sure where Northern Virginia is..but you an go I-81 to I-77 near Whyheville ,va and down I-77 to Charolette to Columbia..then onto I-26 to I-95..this probably not that much farther if at all.....this puts you on a less busy portion of I-95 down to Vero beach..if you do go this way when you get to Jacksonville ..take rt 295 ..rt 9 to the east...less traffic and you come out south of jacksonville..have a great trip...Chuck - joloooteExplorerI-95 is fine until U get down to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. if u'r goin that far down.
- trailertravelerExplorerWe take US-17 from Norfolk to just North of Savannah every year. There is 4 lane limited access highway around most of the more developed areas. We only travel 200-250 miles a day so can not comment on how much longer it takes. Lots of good places to stop along the way with things to do in Wilmington, NC; Charleston, SC; Savannah and Brunswick, GA; and Jacksonville and St. Augustine, FL.
- BumpyroadExplorerI take 15 to 17 to I-95 at fredericksburg all the time. I-95 North of fredericksburg sucks.
bumpy - K_CharlesExplorerWe love RT 17, it might take a little longer but only a few hrs. We go that way from time to time because of the change of scenery.
