Nova Scotia Info - esp Cabot Trail

We're currently in Fundy National Park---a definite MUST DO! we're heading to Nova Scotia and then Newfoundland. We want to explore the Cabot trail, and I'd love to stay in Cape Breton NP cg. I'm concerned about the road to the campground on the east side of the island. is that suitable for a 42' mh with tow?
if not, would it make sense to stay in baddeck and then drive the trail?
it seems like there's so much to see and we want to maximize our time before heading on the ferry to NL. we will visit the rest of NS in the fall, after we leave NL.
thanks for your advice!
ps...not as interested in history as we are in outdoorsy, nature stuff!

By the By all of Atlantic Canada has very good entertainers. Lots of festivals for summer.

In the time since 1983, the weekend entertainment in Corner Brook has increased so that folks from other parts of said island and southern Labrador are as like to come to Corner Brook to shop and take in the shows as St. John's. In 1983 lots more Newfoundlanders would shop in SJ than....

Check out East Coast Music Association.

Cabot Trail only goes around the middle of Cape Breton. Several interesting areas north of said 'trail/park'. Give yourself a minimum of 3 days up there.

Fortress of Louisbourg is a must-do IMHO. Try their cannonball bread. Drive around Bras d'or Lakes. Beautiful. Take it slow and just enjoy the scenery.

We stayed in Baddeck and took the car around the Cabot Trail. I think that's definitely the way to go. We had a great time in Newfoundland - you will love it. We took the short ferry over and back. 3 weeks across to SJ and 1 week back. That last week coming back gave us a chance to spend more time at places we wished we had spent more time at.

A) Lived in NL 24.5 years. Gros Morne National Park is the best park in Atlantic Canada. Why, locals participate!!!!!!

B) Roads around Cabot Trail are paved. Better doings, places IMHO are north end of Cape Breton Is, except for Louisbourg Fortress. BTB there are period eateries and restaurants.

C) Of course, I love water, the PONDS in NL - take boat tours, & I've never done enough of Lake Bras D'Or in NS.

D) NB/Maine Campobello Is. and Lubec, ME and coastal cruising on land roads and water. Used to own land in that part of Maine.

Worst thing that has happened to that part of Maine ------- Walmart Store which rather wiped out some very nice good service and product stores from Bangor and north.

Now, when I worked in Corner Brook and Walmart and Canadian Tire were across the parking lots from each other, folks bought from Canadian Tire over Walmart if same product was available in both!!!! ..... course, I am Canadian.

Oh, and don't forget Labrador and L'Anse aux Meadows, & Cape St. Mary's Bird Sanctuary.......oh & St. John's....
