Pasco1215, thanks for the info on the parks, but we got a space before I could get on WiFi and read your message. We are in Bear Paw site 46.

Re: Valdez RV parks -

No reason for Eagle's Rest over the other parks. Eagle's Rest is the largest. Bayside RV park is across the highway on water side and looks good also. The Bear Paw parks have shade and are smaller, from what I could tell.

We are going to be in Valdez today too. Is there a reason everyone is at Eagle's Rest and not Bear Paw 2? We have no reservations, so are flexible on location.

Went to Kennicott yesterday-great drive and interesting place for a geological engineer to poke around. The Edgerton "Highway" has been greatly improved in the past year. We saw plenty of family cars in the McCarthy parking lot, but I wouldn't drive my MINI up there on a dare! We haven't had a mosquito problem at Kenney Lake RV Park.

No "skeeters" in Valdez. Some bugs around Dayville Rd and Allison Point where everyone is fishing but Bug dope keeps them away.
"Cosninocanines" - look for us in Eagle's Rest. Site 713. No sign - just a schnauzer on the dash!

Well, we made it to Glennallen. A whole 67 miles today! LOL And the mosquitos have found me again. We are at Tolsona Wilderness RV Park. Nice camp all sites on the creek. We have a large pull-thru with electric and water. No sewer but there is a dump. I think the mosquitos were waiting for me..:E. We will be here two nights and head to Valdez on Wed.
For those of you in Valdez...Do you have a mosquito problem there? A little relief would be nice.

Janet

No skeeters in Valdez, at least not when we were there last month. Get a site in the open and you will be safe. When we were in Tolsona the coils that smoke worked enough to allow us to sit out by the creek without the bugs.
Enjoy Valdez.

We will head to Homer and be there by 16/17 July. Hope you get on the road by then. We also met up with CA Traveler. This has been the most Roll call folks we have linked up with on the trip from Maryland.

We are in Ft Nelson today. Haven't seen anyone on the way up with a sign. just wondered if we are late coming , or what. Headed to the Hot Springs in a couple days and the will make our way to Valdez for the ferry. Hope to be there by the 21st or 22nd. Sure hope to meet some of you. Anybody have suggestions for us as we go. Rained all night in Dawson Creek, sure put a damper on our plans.
Really enjoy the blog, thanks Jane for getting it going.

We will be leaving Valdez Monday the 22nd, so if you get there before that come say "Hi" we will be staying at Eagle's Rest.
Beautiful weather up here now. Sun is shining and a little brisk breeze but beautiful!
Travel safe!!

We are in Glacier View staying at Grand View RV park. Simple RV park with full hook-ups and cable and a beautiful view. The Matanuska Glacier is just down the road. We are just here for the night before heading to Tolsona Wilderness campground in Glennallen. We stayed there before and loved it.
We just came from two nights at Williwaw Campground in Portage Valley. What a beautiful campground. Very clean. No hook-ups but for a couple of nights it was just fine. Took the Portage Glacier tour. This was real nice. Only a one hour tour but half price with your toursaver book. Also the Wildlife Conservation center is a great place to go and walk off dinner. Face to face with the animals and also in the toursaver book.
Last night took the tram up to Seven Glaciers Restaurant at Alyeska. Wonderful dinner and a view to die for. Cost some $$$ but worth it. We don't eat out like this all the time so we really looked forward to it.
Hope everyone is enjoying their time.
George and Pat (On The Road) hope you get your repairs done quickly!

On the ferry to Vancouver Island, border crossing was very easy, they were very cordial, asked if We had firearms. No other questions. Really quick but noticed long lines for folks entering US!
