Any recommendations for best insect repellent to keep mosquito's away. At lest some of them.

We hit a bad swarm when in Willow. What we used which worked as good as anything was a repellent with as much deet% as you can get. We also have the individual off fans that you clip on. They have a fan that circulates the bug repellent. Still got a couple of bites but I am usually covered in bites so I guess it worked somewhat. Anchorage doesn't seem to be too bad right now, but they are still out there lurking....

Janet Really! You can walk to town and the trains rumble by several times a day? Sounds like our kind of park!

Best CG on this trip for us - Kluane Lake RV - campsite on the largest lake in Yukon with spectacular mountain views.

Of course some have to have full hookups etc and I'm all for them - go to another park and leave this great CG for the rest of us!

Correction: Best CG is Cottonwood RV Park south of Destruction Bay.

We actually walked down to Ship Creek and watched the anglers they were stacked next to each other. Saw one guy get something on the line but got away. Walk to Ulu factory also. Sat there is a Anchorage farmers market/swap meet in downtown. Like I said this park is not for everyone but we don't mind at all. I was dusting off the car yesterday when a train went by tooting it's horn and a small plane was flying right over. Loud but pretty neat. We love the quiet small places also, but sometimes I just want to be where the action is, lol.
If you love pizza, we went to Moose Tooth last night. The best pizza ever. I got the "White Pizza" (veggie with artichokes) and my husband got the "All American" (pepperoni, beef, veggies) and it was wonderful. Very crowded but if you can grab a table at the bar you don't have to wait. We went before so we knew what we were in for. Hope everyone is having as good a time as we are!!!
Smile everyone! We are blessed to be able to have and enjoy such a wonderful life!!

Thanks for info on the CG CA T at Destruction Bay Area. We are in Prince Rupert at the only RV Park was not a good move on my part in coming to PR. The drive was great for the view and the roads was good. The W gave this park a 1 at best, was not worth the drive by far. Will look around and visit the info center for things to see and go to the library for internet as we have 1 bar at best. Will head north on 37 Sun morning. We got out of Calgary ahead of the flooding as we were camping on the Bow R in Cochrane AB.

Just a note to those heading to Canada/Alaaka thru Alberta..southern Alberta has been experiencing heavy rains and flooding these past 24 hours. Check your routing with info thu the various websites..news, Alberta gov't, etc. For instance, Calgary, Banff are all off-limits today.

Cottonwood RV Park is very well maintained. Trees and bushes at the campsites. There are a number of sites on the lake and 20A in those sites. Other sites have water. Water and dump available. WiFi at the large deck next to the office/home. Weโ€™re at site 24 on the fringe of WiFi but good 2 bars with our CCrane WiFi antenna on the window.

This is the first CG on a gen that we've been in. Very good stable voltage and frequency. If I try I can hear the gen and to the north they have dry sites where it will be only you and the bears. Free firewood, miniature golf. I think the cost is $35, they said pay as you leave cash or check no credit card.

Overcast but otherwise beautiful!

Quick head's up to those with Haines AK in their immediate plans. The Haines Road will be closed Friday, June 21, 2013 for one day (hopefully). This means you won't be able to get to or leave Haines for that day.

According to http://www.511yukon.ca/

Highway 3, the Haines Road, will be closed to traffic on Friday, June 21st at 7:00 am from km 77 Canada Customs, to km 145 Blanchard River. The road will be closed for one day while crews conduct emergency culvert repairs. 20/06/2013 - 08:00
Drive just a few kms south from Haines Junction to the rest stop where you can get a beautiful picture with the Haines Junction sign and the mountains in the background.

Would that be Cottonwood RV Park, just south of Destruction Bay?
Yes thanks for the correction. At km 1658.3 about 16 miles south of Destruction Bay.

We have been on the road since May 9 from NC. Now in Fairbanks headed for Denali Sunday. Stayed in Chitina last week at a free C/G at the end of the bridge. Wanted to drive to McCarthy and realized the toad was low on fuel. Drove 40 miles one way for fuel. It turned to be worth it, went for a flight with Wrangrell Air. this was an "E" ticket, $150 for both with the tour saver!
Loved Haynes but the road was tough.
Recommend BLM C/G Tangle Lakes near Paxson on the Denali hwy. From Richardson it is at the end of the pavement.

We just arrived in Tok and are staying at the Sourdough RV Park. Will go to the pancake toss tonight. Usually is a rousing good time. The park is really empty for some reason.

We thought the mosquitos were bad in Denali, they don't compare to the swarms in Sterling on the Kenai Peninsula. I tried the Fantastic Fan trick, they started taking it apart to let their friends in. We are the only ones in the Bing Brown Motel and Campground. I guess the other rvs have been carried off by the mosquitos. Slow down and drive safe.
