Oregon to Florida

Next May we are headed from FL to Alaska on the way back we are taking the west coast route. (Never driven there before).
What would be the best route from southern Oregon to Florida. We have to end our trip in Oregon and deadhead back.

Except we took CA 44 east from Redding to Susanville CA then US395 south to CA58 east to Barstow and picked up I-40 there.
44 between Redding and Susanville is a beautiful drive and slower going but worth slowing down to see.
In Bishop CA we stayed at the fairgrounds RV park.

How would you define "best"? Shortest, fastest, fewest mountain passes, most scenic, roads we have never traveled and places we will never see again?

Yes your right going I80 over the Sierras then 95 to Vegas

FYI That route takes you over the Sierras not the Rockies.

If your crossing the rockies then 95 will be in your rear view mirror. Or do you mean the Sierra Nevada's?

We are spending a lot of time in Washington and Oregon, saving CA for another trip. So I80 over the Rockies is starting to look good. Then maybe 95 to Las Vegas to I10 and home.

I'd be cautious about taking a large rig across Yosemite due to tunnels and the steep mountain grade. US 1 and 101 in CA is out of his way and slower for "dead heading".

Then, if it were me I would head straight down I5 to Sacramento,I80 east. The pass on I80 over the rockies is not too bad. Once you get to the heartland you can based on weather decide when to turn south. Of course you miss a lot, but you did say dead head indicating to me you want the fastest way back to FL!

We used I-10 to southern Arizona, then I-17 at Phoenix north to I-40. Get off I-40 at US 395 and take that north, stopping at Yosemite. 120 west out of Yosemite to I-5. Then north on I-5. You probably want to go west again from the Sacramento area to connect with the 101. I refuse to drive an RV thru the Bay area myself so we aim for north of that area to connect with 101.

"Deadheading" generally refers to Semis returning without a trailer. Does that mean that you're returning in the "A" without the Jeep, or returning in the Jeep after dropping the "A" off, or something else?
