Anyone have a policy that covers pre-existing conditions? Doctor ordered a CAT scan and I discovered that it is considered a "treatment" with my current policy even if the results are negative. I have checked some plans on the internet. Waiting for a broker to call on Monday. Looking for actual experiences with a plan.

Your broker is probably a good source - but also check any insurance company where you might qualify for group coverage - i.e. past employment (you or your wife), credit cards, travel organizations (i.e. Snowbirds, CAA, Good Sam), retirement organizations (i.e. CARP) - and also ask those folks who regularly travel south for the winter - there must be lots of others who have faced this same issue.

Thanks everyone. My problem is the stability time for pre-existing conditions. Usually policies have a 90 look back. The CAT scan is considered treatment. So unstable in the 90 days. I have found 2 that offer a rider that covers "unstable" conditions up to $150,000 but I would have to qualify for the policy and then pay extra for the rider. I already have a policy that covers everything except this d.... CAT scan which is normal. TUGO is one I am looking at. Hopefully the broker will have a connection to an individual policy underwriter for just this situation.

An aside in my research on travel insurance. Did you know that if you have been drinking and it shows in a blood test that coverage may be denied? Check the exclusions carefully!!!!

We've used this for several years. Has small coverage for unstable pre-existing conditions at extra premium. Don't know how responsive to claims. TuGo is a new brand name of Travel Underwriters.

On edit added "unstable" in front of pre-existing.

Type 'Kanetix' into your browser and check the various insurance providers. There's also 'Travel Insurance Made Easy' in Markham which I am using this year. I get various quotes every year before I make my decision. Here's a linklink

I'm not sure if this helps you, but we purchase travel insurance through Square Mouth. It may be worth it to give them a call.
