It's true not every car can be imported. Import the one that can be though, sell the other one or sell and buy something here. Tenencia is an extra tax not having anything to do with car imports. It was imposed for a short time a few years ago and cost us an extra 300 dollars one year, no biggie just a grab. My 2004 van cost me about 1500 tax to import but my yearly registration fees are about 50 a year or 1/4 of what it was in AZ. My full coverage insurance is 1/3 of what it was in the USA and it covers me in 3 countries, USA MEX and Canada. My TelCel plan is 399 (25.00 usd) pesos a month and works in the same 3 countries smart phone data and all no long distance no roaming.
Play by the rules, don't try to cheat the system (the system always wins) and you have a better life.
If you haven't figured it out yet, I am all in. My life is calmer, less stress and the beach is 5 minutes away. It's all good.
