Grizzly RV is a good choice in West Yellowstone. Sure, it's far from a lot of the park, but you'd be farther out if you were to stay in Gardiner or Cody. Grizzly stays open until late September usually, but make sure you know, and have a reservation, as they start closing parts of the CG after mid-September. Expect below-freezing overnight temps by the 3rd week of September, probably earlier as well, and plan accordingly.
As for 7 hours from West Yellowstone to East Glacier, I doubt it, unless you're happy traveling 80 mph with your RV. GPS's usually figure you're going the speed limit. :) If I were driving that route, I'd figure at least 9 hours. (I don't drive over 65 when towing.)
