- Grit_dogNavigatorNo premium required for a 6.0. As of a couple years ago, all gas was 90 octane no E gas in AK. Appears in Los Anchorage there are stations now though with low mid premium based on a quick search?
- MORSNOWNavigator IIII have never seen a 6.0 gas GM that required premium and GM's are all I've ever owned. A 1/2 ton with 6.2 does require premium. And on a side note, premium is available at any major gas station up here in AK, my car is a turbo and requires premium.
- bodaciousExplorerThanks for your replies. Just now learning that premium is recommended rather than required for the 6.0.
- Sea_SixExplorerWhat makes you think the Chevy Solverado 6.0 requires premium fuel?
I had one for 5 years and only used regular gas. It ran just fine. - TvovExplorer II

Looking at new Silverado with 6.0 gas V8 that requires premium gas. Is premium gas available all through Canada and Alaska?
It requires premium? Or is it "recommended"? - wilber1ExplorerThe same vehicles that require premium in the US also require it in Canada. I don't know of a station in Canada that doesn't have premium although there may be some. Shell 91 octane is ethanol free as is Chevron 94 octane. 91 octane at Co-Op stations in BC is also ethanol free. I'm assuming they get their fuel from Shell
- pianotunaNomad IIIPremium is available in almost all locations that sell fuel in Canada.
- LwiddisExplorer IIAwfully wild up there. Safer to stay home.
- Bionic_ManExplorerI never have seen a 6.0 that requires premium. The 6.2, that is a different story.
And yes, there is premium fuel available in Alaska. - PA12DRVRExplorerAs noted, premium is available in Alaska, with the qualifiers of: a) on the road system; and b) the smaller the place, the higher the price and the higher the chance that they either won't have it or will be out pending delivery.
Off the road system (not really a factor for RV travel), premium is a **** shoot.
It's anecdotal at best, but at some of the smaller stations in more remote places, the premium supply might not turn over often and may, may, put a bit more of a burden on your vehicle's fuel filter.
