Reprieve For PEMEX

Of course this does not make the news north of the border - IT AIN'T POLITICAL MUD!

A foreign owned petro exploration company has found a new giant shallow depth (easy to recover) oil field. Hundreds of millions of barrels of new proven reserves.

I look for the peso to gain to perhaps 17.2 if NAFTA negotiations do not snag in August.

That may very well be but as you can see, they are all over the map now. That is quite a spread for a market that had a one price fits all market strategy.

I tried searching Bloomberg for an article to go along with the graphic but did not find it - yet. I did find another sort of related article with more graphics........

sorry - I don't post links because I do not like clicking unknown links - you can easily Copy & Paste to your browser. I'll keep searching Bloomberg.

Edited to say the prices in the post are for Magna.

We just returned from a two-week trip through Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi and Guanajuato. Gas prices ranged from 15.44 to 16.15 for Magna. The spread is really moving around.

I sent an email to GasBuddy asking if they thought they might be adding Mexico to their website in the next few years but no response. I'll have to send it again.

We found many, many gas stations remodeling under the OXXO Gas and Petro 7 names along with some independents. Pemex signs are slowly coming down.

I don't have a clue what is going to happen but it is a welcomed change. We haven't seen any major price changes. Those that are published are not taking into account seasonal products and the price of avocados is affecting the bottom line.

Anyway, it was a fun trip without any issues and I have posted some great pics on the blog of our El Salto State Park in the south of Nuevo Leon if anyone is interested. The road there was very good and they now have a gas station in the south of the state. There weren't any before and there is a stretch of 200 kms that didn't have any and you bought from people's houses not knowing what you were getting.

The winds of change. And while I'm at it, here is an interesting link:

Bloomberg Health-Care Efficiency Index

The U.S. ranks on a lowly 50 and Mexico at a high of 17.

"Newspaper Articles" are some of the POOREST sources of information about Mexico in the business.

Why?

They have a dog in the fight.

So do many Mexico forums

They lose money when information can harm their source of revenue.

So called NEWS reporters sit on their --- and make telephone calls to sources that have a dog in the fight.

I have attempted over the years to pass on inside information about Pemex while protecting the identity of my sources. They WILL get fired or even worse if their identity is compromised.

I posted about the fraudulent news reports about ULSD refinery modifications. I was soundly denounced on this forum. My info has been proven correct.

Pemex is near bankruptcy. Ditto

The inaccuracy of assuming foreign gasolineras means foreign fuel. Ditto.

ULSD availability in Baja California. Ditto

ULSD UN availability in Baja California SUR. Ditto

Spurious availability of UBA at "selected" gasolineras. Ditto

I do not have a dog in any fight and frankly folks I am tired of the denunciations.

It's better if you folks revel in pure "official" BS.

Adios and above all ENJOY. I've got better things to do. So do my engineer friends, and my TelCel bill.

I wouldnยดt use the term discredit, itยดs people not posting facts. Forums in general are coming to an end with the advent of Facebook. FB is easy to post on, add pictures, and follow specific posts and replies.

Correct me if Iยดm wrong but this has been said on the other forums here on Good Sam and the affiliates.

Rving in Mexico is slowly dying and I havenยดt seen but a handful of rvs this year on any of my trips, in fact, I could count them on one hand. More and more people are flying down and renting. That part is sad. Not enough quality rv parks, aging rvers, people who have read all the negatives about Mexico and now with the political situation even more are scared off. All the regulars we used to hang around with havenยดt been back for at least three years with no plans to do so. JMHO.

Briansue: You bring up an interesting comment. Unfortunately Forums become mature and the posters are the opposite. The core members who used to post have left the forum after being harassed or some know it all tries to discredit everything they post. I also notice not very many newbies. I think they are afraid to post. What a shame. There are some very good RV forums such as IRV2. But no real Mexico RV forums.

So does my memory dealing with a 17 digit alpha-neumeric stew.

You don't seem to have any problem typing out lots of long winded posts with lots of other digits - another 17 is not much at all. But you could just put in the name of the source - newspaper or whatever - then we could search that source for the specific article. This is not a big deal and you would be providing much more useful information than just your personal take on an issue.

No I figured you could type in the search yourself and pick the article you wanted to read thet way

What I requested was the SOURCE of the information the original poster was providing information from - a search may not have turned up that source. We all know how to Google and how to search - if that was the issue that is what we would have done. Most of us here try to provide useful information but there are those who post who seemed to provide nothing of use - just rude comments.

Thanks! I guess you attempted to post the link but it didn't work.

Question is, how much longer will be using fossil fuels? I used to believe until they were all gone.

Now with the rush for solar, electric cars, subways, the use of methane here in Mexico from trash plants to power subways and street lights, will the need diminish?

Here in the northern Mexico solar is everywhere and it is cheap. The installers can't keep up with the demand.

I tried to copy and paste on the Samsung, but nothing appears when I go to paste. An older image perhaps but repeated attempts at doing it with the address bar fails. So does my memory dealing with a 17 digit alpha-neumeric stew.

Anyway so much for those above links. The information content is right out of Alice In Wonderland. There is a few hundred million barrels of genuine recoverable new oil discovered. Not a billion. My source, Luis, is going back to work after a six month layoff. As a Pemex engineer he is privy to official in-house not public relations baloney Pemex information.

It is heavy Maya crude. Hard to refine. But Pemex has a swap underway for USA fracked oil.

Hot Air Dept. Presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is breathing political fire about "Rebuilding Pemex Refineries". The man is everything close to a shoo-in for president new year. Nothing was said about arresting and imprisoning the 100 most corrupt Pemex union leaders.

Bottom line. Less chance of a genuine Mexico financial crisis for the next decade.
