Roads south from Rapid City
We will be visiting the Mt Rushmore area for the first time a we would like to return a different way. How are the roads going South? US385 goes to Texas and we can go East from there on I-40.

385 is one of our preferred routes from SD to TX. but it is not a super highway. we like the little towns..most of them have a park or fairgrounds, etc that you can use. We take highway 50 east at Granada CO and go over to Garden City KS and highway 83 south into TX. We stay overnight at Canadian TX at a little fairground rv park on the north side of town just past the bridge. water and a dump station.
then on south to Shamrock when you cross I 40.
There are walmarts at Garden City and Liberal KS.
