My DW and I will have our family lady dog with us, and that is an area I'm trying to learn tips on how to plan around. (Day trips she can join us on; Sightseeing where she is welcomed; Etc.)
I'm thinking because most tours include viewing wildlife, dogs are generally not welcome. In Denali National Park dogs are welcome but MUST be leashed at all times and within the park walked on roads only. No hiking trails with the dog!
We tended to avoid the commercial tours, preferring to do our own thing with our dogs along with us. When we had to leave them behind, then a good long hike in the morning set them up for snoozing the rest of the day.
Many locals in Yukon & Alaska let their dogs run loose. Some of these dogs become coyote & wolf bait. We keep ours leashed on walks and behind a fence at our cabin because some of their distant counsins frequent the area. We also have a large lynx romping around.
