Okay...I know 2017 hasn't even taken off, but those of you that remember me from Roll Call 2013 know that I plan well ahead of time, lol.
4 years is way too long to go without being in Alaska so we are heading up again. This time my sister (Barbara), her husband (Pat) and their baby poodle (Koko) are going with us with their Bounder. We are planning to leave from Bullhead City, AZ around the end of May.
Would love to get a roll call started if anyone else out there is as much of an early planner as I am.
For those of you heading up this year, have a safe and wonderful trip and maybe you will enjoy it so much that you will join us in 2018. :W

Well we only have about 4 weeks till we start rolling NW to Alaska from NE Florida. I stated before we have an ever changing route and will not be heading up the the Great Lakes, instead we will take a more direct route. Crossing into Canada via British Columbia then points north.

It is going to be a very busy 4 weeks for us. Next week we are traveling to our last BlueGrass Festival this spring (we work the festivals for a promoter). Then we service the Class C, check it all out, and start loading STUFF. Why yes we will have our signage in the window.

Hope to see y'all on the road. Let's get this GRAND ADVENTURE ROLLING!!!!!!

None that I've ever experienced. Except on the Alaska Marine Hwy System. Just need to declare prior to boarding so an employee can inspect that the valves are all shut off on all propane tanks prior to boarding the ferry. They will tag each tank or propane compartment that it was checked to be in compliance.

Firewood will be confiscated at all crossings into Canada as well as whatever food supplies the crossing staff are short of. It changes all the time, meat, veggies, fruit etc.

Alcohol is also limited when crossing as well as cash, $10K as I recall was the magic number.

Also, no criminal history, DWI, DV Assaults etc. Or they will decline you entry into the country.

Laws regarding firearms are strict. Ran into a couple at Takhini Hot Springs just north of Whitehorse in 2016. They had entered Canada along the southern boarder, spent time in Alaska and were attempting to reenter the Yukon at the Top of the World Hwy crossing heading towards Dawson City. They had chosen to bring a 12 gauge shotgun with them, had followed the Canadian application and fee process and had the necessary paperwork to transport the weapon with them. HOWEVER the female boarder guard and a trainee claimed the law had changed while they were in Alaska and they were declined entry. They had to drive back to Tok, AK, visit a sporting goods store and get a suitable shipping box for a long gun and pay to ship it home to a friend to hold for them till they returned home. They were not happy campers. They had to drive south back to Whitehorse and then north and approach Dawson City from the south.

If you choose to bring pepper spray it must be clearly marked as a BEAR REPELENT and not for personal protection such as mace.

Bear bells are permissible as it helps the bears locate you when you are out for a walk. I'm surprised they don't sell them at the boarder crossing points.

After living in Alaska for 25 years those are just a few tidbits I'll toss in to help those in the planning process.

I will be leaving on August 17 from eastern PA heading for Denali. My rig consists of a 2004 R-Vision Trail Cruiser (hybrid 19') and a 2013 Ford F-150 V8 with an extended cab. The trailer has two 20 lb. propane tanks mounted on the A frame. Is there a limit to carrying additional 20 lb. tanks across the border into Canada? I was hoping to carry two extra tanks (in the bed of the truck) to run my duel fuel generator.
Thanks for your comments in advance.

Bags are packed. All set for early run to the airport tomorrow & a day of flying, sitting around JFK, flying some more, sitting around BWI, then shuttle bus & night at a hotel. Won't see trailer till Wednesday morning. Quite the commute. 24 hours door to door.

Now, if only the weather would warm up some in the Mid Atlantic area.

Keepgo wifi internet

I just bought and received this new wifi. It is to work in several countries. If you need your internet like we do even when traveling this might work for you. I will use it in my motorhome but also while traveling abroad. It will not work on cruises but will work once on land in the countries that are supported by this.
So far very nice, but have not used it out of US yet.
If interested please use the referral code above. You get 15% off and I get extra data.
Just thought I would share.

The last odds & ends are getting checked off the list. Big stuff inside house completed. Paint brushes put away. Property grass mowed by me for the last time for 4 months. Big pile of cuttings burned. Car oil changed. Travel bags dragged out of the basement & ready to be loaded. Last Amazon order made. Arrangements for a very early ride to airport made. Reservation for airport shuttle at the Baltimore end to pick up the truck made. A couple of office meetings & some banking Monday & we are ready to fly Tuesday.

The only thing that can mess us up now is the weather. Surely there cannot be another East Coast winter storm.

Fingers crossed for you !! Travel safe and keep us updated

Time is getting close...Is everyone excited!
Starting to stage some things, but we are going on a cruise first so my spare room staging is a real mess, lol

Don't forget to have some sort of sign, maybe to place on dash when at camp or something so we know you are one of us.

I don't know about fuel but one place we overnighted wanted $18.00 a 5 lb bag for ice cubes for our cooler. Far as I know the cubes are still in their freezer.

Beer in several places in northern BC and the Yukon was between $90.00 and $100.00 CDN per 30 pack.

Seems crazy, eh...but our CDN beer is just so much better than the lower 48's.
