Roll Call Alaska 2018

Okay...I know 2017 hasn't even taken off, but those of you that remember me from Roll Call 2013 know that I plan well ahead of time, lol.
4 years is way too long to go without being in Alaska so we are heading up again. This time my sister (Barbara), her husband (Pat) and their baby poodle (Koko) are going with us with their Bounder. We are planning to leave from Bullhead City, AZ around the end of May.
Would love to get a roll call started if anyone else out there is as much of an early planner as I am.
For those of you heading up this year, have a safe and wonderful trip and maybe you will enjoy it so much that you will join us in 2018. :W

Also right on the Yellowhead Highway in Smithers is a Safeway store. We discovered that finding a grocery store near the highway in Prince George was difficult. So, if you need to stock up someplace after Jasper, Smithers is the place.

Take a look at the free, tree-shaded, lakeside, no-hookup city campground in Burns Lake. It has an adjacent rec center with restrooms and showers and a free dump station with a potable water fill two blocks west. A grocery and several restaurants are also within easy walking distance.

We stayed in Burns Lake on our way from Prince George to the Cassiar Highway and very much enjoyed our stay. We even did a downtown self-guided history tour while there. And, if you have a kayak or canoe (we have an inflatable kayak), the lake is very calm and scenic.

Hazelton BC May be a good half way stop. Although we haven't stayed there yet, we have plans to stop at K'San RV Park in Hazelton for a night or two while making our way from the Casier Hwy and heading to Jasper. We are going that way on our way home.

We are tentatively in also. Headed from SOCAL, planning to hit the ferry in either Seattle or Prince Rupert, want to camp the islands of the inside passage, fish, hike, ride, camp, get off at Haines and find our way to Cooper Landing on the Kanai peninsula where we have a friend. Wife likes to fish, big time (not my thing) I'll be 50, we have a 8 yr old son. We hope to take our smaller rv a 21 ft starflyte or perhaps buy something in the 21,24 ft range newer and more reliable with less daily set up, teardown. I carry on the rig and hope to ride a dual sport motorcycle.

Still working out details, ferry schedules and complications due to having a dog.

Welcome aboard ! It has been rather quiet here but we still have tons of time. I will add you to the next roll call list.

When we went in 2014, all that was required was a certificate of health from the vet. This will prove the dog's shots are up to date and in good health.

When my baby was still with us, I always had all her shots up to date and a note from the vet since she needed special dog food. All the times we have gone up to Canada and/or beyond to Alaska I was never asked for the paperwork. One time I was so proud of her papers and how I had them in a nice folder and I asked at the border....don't you want to see my baby's papers and he just looked at me and smiled and said...No thank you, you guys take better care of your pets than you do yourselves.
I would still make sure you have the paperwork in order. Better safe than sorry.
