Route 30, East York area Closed (PA)

York, PA Route 30

A truck hauling a backhoe hit a bridge this am. I was out at 8 am. Traffic was a nightmare -- there were no warnings on the news or anything. It has only gotten worse as the day progessed.

What I gathered from the news this evening, they are expecting it to be closed until Friday. People are sitting for hours, bumper to bumper.

It's a nightmare around here. Our school district even dismissed early today to get the kids home.

Route 30 on the east side of York, PA

If anything happens that I HAVE to get in to town this week, I'll be happy that I know a cow path and back roads so I can avoid the mess.

Yes, I'm delighted to report it's open now, ahead of schedule.

Unfortunately, everyone has GPS, they will find your cow path and back roads. 😞

Maybe PennDot will get it fixed quickly.

DH has been going back Roads to Wrightsville, and then across the old bridge to Columbia. He said Lancaster County is clear. This is affecting East York, Hellam, and Wrightsville, which are all on the west bank of the Susquehanna. Once you hit Lancaster County, it's clear, at least from what I have heard so far.

They are putting east bound traffic back on to route 30 at Wrightsville, so that pulls the jam off of 462. From what I saw in traffic yesterday, I think they are pulling east bound traffic off of 30 at Mount Zion Road. 462 just is not designed to handle the traffic flow from 30.

Amazing how a short section of one road closed can really mess things up.
