Routes from Michigan to Salt Lake City

Does anyone have any suggestions on the least mountainous way to go out to Salt Lake City pulling a 40' fiver? Wife doesn't like steep grades on the mountains. Thanks
  • I80 is the best way.

There is a pretty steep downgrade from Parleys summit into Salt Lake. But you can avoid it by getting off of I80 at Echo UT and taking I84 west towards Ogden. Then take highway 89 south to I15 and into Salt Lake.

    ^^^^^ This.

Highest point on I-80 will be in Wyoming at ~8600 feet near Buford WY; it's between Cheyenne and Laramie, and like most of the area of SE Wyoming, it will be a gradual climb. There's a downhill section as you approach Laramie, but it's not difficult at all, just drop down to 2nd gear and let the engine work for you.
