Doable if you aren't in a hurry and you know how to drive on curvy roads. I have seen 5ers in the campgrounds on the west side of Emory Pass. As others have said its a great road for motorcycles. This video will show you what you will be getting into. The rider is going east to west like you would be. There is one hairpin turn that is after the end of the vid. There is another one on the other side of the summit. Overall there are about 25 miles of twisty roads.

There are two low clearance bridges on the road. They are marked as 12' 6 or 12' 8. Those are the heights at the sides. There is clearance in the middle.

When you turn off I25 to 152W you will see a low clearance warning & the wide spot that everyone turns around & heads back to I25.

I have used all the roads discussed by the others. We drove NM 26/27 from Hatch to Hillsboro, then NM 152 to Silver City last year, but just in the truck. But we have towed our trailers over NM 26 numerous times as a cutoff between Deming and Hatch. It is a very good highway, as is U.S. 180.

Having driven all of 152 in a car, I would never take my fifth wheel on it, especially between Caballo and Hillsboro. As others have said, it's a fun, scenic drive in a small vehicle, but very slow and very long in anything big.

Not Recommended except for motorcycles and sports cars. Two single lane bridges 5 and 7 miles west of Hillsboro, both have height restrictions of about 12.75 ft. They are both "scheduled" to be replaced in 2021. 152 is slower than going down to Hatch and over to 180 on NM 26 and the road is not just twisty, it is up and down, twisty.

152 is a great road for a motorcycle, but do not take an RV across that road.

I'm originally from the southern part of the state and have driven 152. I wouldn't do it with a fiver, though - some pretty tight turns, etc. I think it was on 152 in the late '60s/early '70s that I folded the tow mirror on one side of my dad's camper special squeezing between the sandstone face on one side and a cattle trailer coming the other way...

NM152 is slow going even in a car. There are a lot of curves going through the mountains. It is probably faster to go to NM26 to US180.

And if I recall correctly there are also some low clearance bridges.

152 is not approved for 18 wheelers per my Motor Carriers Atlas, which suggests routing from Demming north to Silver City instead. I just checked the 152 on Google Maps in street view and the route looks a little twisty but OK to me.
