Advice welcome on smoothest right lane road surface from Portland OR to Dallas TX. Going the opposite direction on I-40 through NM and AZ was like riding in a paint shaker at the hardware store. Parts...

If someone with knowledge of a smoother non-interestate route would like to suggest an alternate route, or even which stretches of interstate to avoid, I'm all ears. All I know is I-40 is not an option.
