Why would it be a surprise, the Dollar is nearly 20.00 pesos so everything is going up, the taxi that cost me 35.00 pesos is now 40.00 pesos and a lot of products that are manufactured in Mexico with American brand names really go up, we have 12 cats and cat food all of a sudden there is a shortage and it reappears with a higher price, at least I have lunch with soup, rice the main course with beans, dessert and a drink with refills for 50.00 pesos, chiles rellenos, cochinita pibil, albondigas de res, pollo en mole poblano, enchiladas suizas, you name it they serve it at least once a month very varied menu and good food, comida corrida.
Now for the gasoline, I take the taxi to go to Walmart, Home Despot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco, IHOP, Chedraui, Sears it is cheaper than using the car, all of this places are close by some I can walk that of course is a risk in getting run over by an idiot, specially the women they do not even slow down for the topes, they do not pay for the car so they do not care.
So gasoline is going up yes everything else is going up, and what ever idiot get's the White House the economy in Mexico is going to go nuts, and yes I am in Mexico City viviendo la vida loca, remodeling the wife's inherited house!
Eight bedrooms three stories with a beautiful view of the volcanos and the city only pay $800.00 US dollars in property tax a year, no rent just water gas and electric about 3000.00 pesos about $ 160.00 us Dollars a month for an extended family of 9 and a dozen cats, no kitchen so far working on it, starting next week.
So gasoline is going up no surprise at all, next year some oil companies are going to start selling under their brand names so says El Universal News paper and depending on Washington there might be more price increases, every body here is waiting for the "sablaso" (sable as sword)so we will see after Tuesday how it goes.
