I'm looking for current info on the state of this road. I really do not want to go up to Tepic unless this road is bad.
Thanks

Came thru here yesterday...better than last year but as usual, two potholed and multiple patched sections either side of Zacualpan. On the straight stretch into Las Varas the edge of the pavement has collapsed in a couple of places..watch for it.
I did not have a problem with overhanging trees as my trailer is only 24' and low. You have to keep to the middle of the road as usual to avoid the side foliage in places.
On the straight stretch past the big cervesa distributor on the corner watch for the municipal police radar. It's 60kmh.
Good luck
Tony

Have not ventured north past Cerro de Ortega nor south past La Union but Mex 200 was in OK shape. Watch for unmarked unpainted topes in tree shadows from Cerro to Marauata. This was before Patricia.

We had friends take it today, and hopefully they will post the condition.

The new toll road to San Blas just north of Tepic is definitely not open yet.

It was in horrible ocndition last season. So was 200 south to manzanillo. I would suspect it is low priority. I will be goign oover it without my RV around Dec 1st. If I remember I will post here about it.

We have talked to people last year who travel that route South all the time.
We have taken it North one year and it wasn't pleasant with the overhanging tree branches whipping the side and top of your RV! Also we had the construction detour at Hildalgo and did a little damage to the RV undercarriage.
Hopefully....someone will comment on this route soon before we get to that point in the decision on which way to go!

That road has been pretty variable over the years. Usually after a spell of dry weather they do some maintenance on the potholes. I have been through there when it was pretty rough, but still very passable at the right speeds, as the potholes are usually down on the lower elevations. Be nice if somebody has just come through and can give you a report. Our rig is a 5th wheel and we're 35 feet overall. RYV

I would also like to know. I am not a fan of climbing to Tepic and then coming down through Compostella

The intersection to highway 200 is only 5 mins (+/-) past the San Blas turnoff and it's 4 lane divided
