I don't remember what the prices were, but in general one doesn't go to Alaska (and in particular along the Dalton Highway) primarily to fill up with really inexpensive fuel. It didn't strike me as horribly outrageous given the remote locations.
The scenery, especially around and when crossing the Brooks range, more than makes up for the fuel costs. I don't care to think of what a 120 mile tow would have cost had that been necessary, though.
