Three possibilities.
You're old enough to remember when maps were made from dead trees. Get a set and plan a route that you would like.
If you have a GPS unit, it may have the option to plan a route avoiding interstate highways, toll roads, et . Try that.
If you belong to AAA, they will plan a route for you.
As previously said, we also drive in the 62-65 range on interstates. Just stay in the Granny Lane and you'll be just fine.
Enjoy your trip. Lots of neat things to see in SD and away.
Interstates are a huge bore We avoid them whenever possible.
Same here. After about 7000 miles last year, I think we may have driven 600 miles of it Interstate. We love the two lanes. It does take some old fashioned paper maps and a flexible schedule. I use a gps, but keep an Atlas in the truck. Break the trip down into just one days travel and don't concern yourself with the long trip.
Folks that only travel the interstate have no idea what this country is made of. Good people in small towns; with good food, swap meets and folks that will take the time to wave to a stranger.
