Wondering about taking this road in the next week or so?? Think again!
I was up there in Rocky 2 weekends ago. It rained for a goodly part of the weekend at Moraine Park, snow at the higher elevations. They did get Trail Ridge open a bit further, from Many Parks Curve to Rainbow Curve on the east side. But that's where it starts getting above tree line and a bit more challenging. I think they will probably get the road completely done by Memorial Day (scheduled opening is May 22nd) but they may be hard pressed to keep it open, at least for a while. - LaurenExplorerHi, Thom ............ say hi to Rocky for me.

Hey Lauren!
Heading back up there next weekend with family visiting from Indiana. If we make it up top, I'll carve your name in the snow ! ! - Thom02099Explorer IIWell, if I was a betting man, my money would be on Trail Ridge Road NOT opening as scheduled on May 22. Since it's been rainy down here in the flats for 17 of the past 19 days (according to 9News in Denver) and snow in the High Country, it's doubtful the NPS will be able to get/keep it open for the start of the season. Forecast for the Alpine Visitors Center up top calling for snow through the remainder of this week, highs in the 30s/lows in the 20s.
Corresponding to this information, last night 9News had a story on Mount Evans Road, and it too will NOT be opening as scheduled on Memorial Day weekend. They have also had a lot of new snow, and the report stated they'd gotten 4 feet of new snow in the past several days.
C'mon June ! ! ! !
