trip report, San Felipe to Sonoyta

Thanks for your report, bigdog2. If time permits the longer trip through Rocky Point is very interesting, turning off on the way north on Hwy 5 from San Felipe about 40 km short of Mexicali and finding your way (at Sanchez) onto the road to El Gulfo. One may by-pass El Gulfo to drive through the Altair desert to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point). This is fairly new road, very well constructed. It was a little windy when we did it back in February, with a fair bit of sand blowing low, across the highway, and only kicking up into the air if there was oncoming traffic. The trip to Sonoyta, we took much later, was a fast one, about an hour, with the road in good shape.
