Tupelo to Little Rock via 278

Can someone give me a road report on 278 to 49 to 70 to I-40 Tupelo to Little Rock?

Went the southern bypass around Memphis last week and its a royal mess and Looking for alternatives. Will be picking up a new trailer in Little Rock returning to Birmingham and want to avoid that Memphis craziness if possible.

Also any recommendations for overnight parking along that route? Ill check rv parkreviews but thought I'd ask here as well.

    We traveled from Decatur AL to Utah last summer and crossed at West Helena going and coming for the same reason. The drive up 49 from Helena to Brinkley is quite pleasant. Getting across MS to West Helena from Decatur was something else. You almost can't get there from here.

    Memphis is bad due to construction at the east edge of town where new flyovers are being built at the I-40/240 interchange. ON WEEKENDS, additional lane closures are scheduled to avoid problems with Mon-Fri rush hour traffic.

    US278 MS6 will change to two lane at Batesville, Ms not a bad road just have to watch out for the farmers and farm equip. US49/61 north at Clarkdale is 4 lane until you turn left on US49 then back to two lane to go over river bridge at Helena/W. Helena Ar. from there Us 49 is a 4 lanes for about 10 miles then turns to a combination 2/3 lane to Brinkley Ar. US70/I40.

    You have two places to stay on that route one would be at John Kyle SP at Sardis Lake between Oxford and Batesville, Ms and the other is in a RV park in W. Helena Ar. south side of hwy headed out of W. Helena.
