U.S. Highway 64 Taos to Cimarron in April

You can get snow in April, we have had up to 8 inches. But not very often, and at least at our elevation, 7300ft, it has always melted the same day.

The drive down into the valley is pretty steep with a couple of sharp turns, so go slow and be careful with the brakes.

It is a very pretty drive, but I usually avoid it if I am trying to get somewhere since it is a slow drive.

We have driven it from the other way, Cimarron to Taos with our rig and didn't have any problems. It was in June so can't say anything about April snow. Take your time and enjoy the ride.

Should be fine. If you are heading North on I25 and if you have the time take Highway of Legends Several good camping spots along it.

Can't remember enough to speak to the snow, but as far as the road you'll be OK. There's curves but negotiable, and the pass is no big deal, you start at almost 7000ft at Taos anyway and the climb is pretty gradual. Great drive!
