Thanks to all who offered help and info regarding the AMHS ferry issues. The ferry service called on Wed. with the news that our trip via the Taku from Prince Rupert and then later from Petersburg would not be possible.
However, they were wonderful to work with and managed to find a place for our truck/trailer on the Mantanuska and then later on the Columbia. All is well--we leave a couple days earlier than planned, will just do a pass through Ketchikan instead of staying for a few days and get off two weeks later in Skagway a day later than planned. However we get extra time in Petersburg and Juneau--so all is well.
We will always be grateful to the ferry staff for being so diligent in helping us make other arrangements and we look forward to seeing this part of Alaska--something we didn't do on our first trip.
