On my return trip from the southwest (end of March) I am considering US54 from Vaughn, NM then connect with US400 into Wichita.

What is the road like and what about weather for this time of year?

Thanks

Nick

Last summer we took US-54 from Lake Ozark to Tucumcari. We skirted around Wichita using K-254 and I-235.

I took it back from southern New Mexico to central Missouri a couple of years ago in April. It was pretty nice traveling, not too much traffic and better scenery. I'd do it again.

good road. some 4 lane but most is 2 lane. good rv parks in Tucumcari, Guymon, Wichita. We own 1A. just north of Wichita so have done the trip many times.

US-54 and US-400 are one and the same from about Greensburg until you get East of Wichita 15 miles or so if my memory hasn't failed

US 54 runs right into Wichita. Why not stay on it? 54 isn't a bad road at all. Lots of 2 lane but truckers run it all the time. End of March shouldn't be too much of a worry about the weather.

Don't know about 400 though.
