Utah national Parks

Planing my trip for June 2021 I would like your recommendation for a route to visit Zion ,Canyonlands , Glen Canyon, Arches, and Bryce . I will be coming into Utah from Flagstaff on 89 . Those of you that live there or been there many times can you recommend other sites just as pretty but not so busy . My exit plan is to take 70 towards Denver CO. We’re not on a schedule and I am able to drive all road as long as there RV or truck approved. I know we’re talking a huge area but would also like to visit Durango and Silverton.
I been to Grand Canyon area twice but never Utah All your help will be much Appreciated

  • Also on a similar trip now....currently in Escalante.

We came here on I-40 from NC. Our stops have been:
    - Monument Valley 3 nights (don't miss Valley of The Gods)
    - Lake Powell 3 nights (if you rent a boat or PWC go into Labyrinth Canyon)
    - N Rim Grand Canyon 3 nights (wish we had done 4)
    - Zion NP 5 nights (get shuttle passes 4-6 months in advance, impossible to get when you are here...also bring a bike if you ride)
    - Escalante Grand Staircase NM 4 nights (love this place...best so far. Don't miss Lower Calf Creek Water Fall)
    - Capital Reef - Torrey 4 nights
    - Moab - Arches and Canyonlands NP 4 nights (5 would have been better to do both)
    - Bluff, UT - Canyons of The Ancients NM

Then down to Sedona for a week. This is a good time of year IMO because it is not frying pan hot! All campgrounds have been full. We made reservations last February and there were only a few spots left at most parks.
  • Thanks for all the responses . Some one suggested I look at the route the Caravan companies use .
I did and it was really helpful. ORbiker I’m going to start making reservations ASAP
Any more suggestions keep them coming
    Thanks Jeff
  • Check out Goblin Valley SP along your way. The Colorado Natl Monument is scenic also; you can easily go there after Arches, then head south to Ouray and vicinity.
  • Have you got your reservations. Utah is getting to be a very busy vacation destination.

LOL. We are doing this trip right now....plus Lake Powell.
  • Well I'd take US 89 north to Page then to Glen Canyon from there, then back to 89 north Mount Caramel then Hwy 9 west to Zion (this depends on the size of your towed). Then back to 89 and north to Hwy 12 east to Bryce. Then back to Hwy 12 west to Hwy 24 west and that on to Arches via I70. Warning very steep but very scenic. 12% grades east of Escalante. This will run you right past Capitol Reef NP which you should stop at. Canyonlands is south of Arches for the east side of the park.
