Utica to Watertown New York

Question

Can anyone help with Route advice on going from Utica to Watertown. Both my trip planners are sending me I-90 to I-81. Google Maps sends me up Route 12, about 30 miles shorter. I see no low clearances, but not sure about bridges, etc. Any input will be appreciated.

We used to travel that area often, but the number of relatives there has deceased.
Not only will NY-12 be shorter, but look up the fare for that section of NYTW.
My bet would be that the drive time would be about the same but a much more pleasant excursion....

If you're in no hurry, I would take Rt 12.
