- cruz-inExplorerThanks all....checked realtime traffic before we entered the coty at 5:00 PM....showed i-10 clear with just one slow down....decided to go for it....worked great....zoomed right thru the city with one few minute slow down.....
Thanks all for the advice and info... - RamTXExplorerRegarding using the beltway 8 (Sam Houston Tollway) you will have to go thru the cash line when pulling a trailer. At rush hour, the lines can be anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 mile long at some of the toll booths. Also, some of the toll road cannot be used unless you have a Texas EZ Tag (portion between Highway 59 and I10 on the north side. You will have to use the access road on that portion which isn't too bad. If I were you, I would go straight thru on I10. Get in the middle lane and just watch closely as you approach downtown at the I10 and I45 interchange in order to get in the lane going east on I10. Of course, all bets are off if there is a wreck on the freeway. As someone said monitor the traffic with real time mapping if possible.
- NMDriverExplorerWhere are you starting from and going to on tomorrows drive? You can use secondary roads to completely by-pass Houston to the north (through Conroe for example). At RV driving speed and considering rush hour traffic, they are not longer time wise depending on your start/stop place (Junction, TX to Lake Charles, LA for example).

Fishhawker, I take it you're not going to the "main" Memorial Hermann facility on Main St., but to a location on OST?
I'd take 288 to the Holcombe exit, cross Holcombe and turn right on Old Spanish Trail (commonly known as "OST", even on signs). It's a good road - especially on Sunday morning.
Thanks!!
Yes, We'll be going to the "Mother Ship" Memorial Hermann hospital located on Main St
But our first stop will be to check in at our lodging which is located on Old Spanish Trail
We appreciate the help! - KemahsabeExplorerFishhawker, I take it you're not going to the "main" Memorial Hermann facility on Main St., but to a location on OST?

I will be coming in to Houston from Arkansas on north 59
next Sunday morning (9-10 o'clock) to go to Old Santa FeTrail and then Memorial Herman hospital
Just Wondering if traffic wise, would it be best to just come through town from N59 to 288 to the Holcombe exit then to Santa Fe Trail
or take the 610 belt to Main street - then to Old Spanish Trail
from the south end?
Thanks for your input!! - KemahsabeExplorerThe above is good advice. :B
But if you choose not to take it here's what to do based on lots of sad experience:
If you don't already have it, get Google Maps so that you have real-time traffic information. Plan on taking the I-610 loop around the north side. It's your best bet at that time of day. If Google Maps says that's jammed, look at using the I-610 south loop, or the outer loop - the Sam Houston Tollway - either north or south.
An alternative to Google Maps for real-time traffic info is Houston Transtar. They have an app as well as a website.
Good luck! - filrupmarkExplorerWhy would you want to do that to yourself. Stop and eat .
- jswatExplorerOne word from a native; wait!
- hbillsmithExplorerStop in Katy for a long dinner and then head back out after rush. If you meant morning rush, breakfast.
