Wisconsin/Minnesota Trip

Planning a trip from Colorado to the Wisconsin Dells and then up to Egg Harbor, Door County. I originally was planning to go to Michigan and back down but now wanting to head to northern Wisonsin/Minnesota and then back down towards CO. I have not been to either state before so don't know the scenic routes and best places to stay. I prefer the nicer RV parks with plenty of room for the Class A and like lakes, pools, fishing and good food. I will have about 3 weeks for the total trip.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I enjoy the countryside scenery along US-151 from Dubuque toward Madison. That's on your way to the Dells.

I agree that Peninsula SP is worth visiting at least, even if you don't stay there. I rented a bike just outside the entrance and pedaled in for free.

You might consider a visit to and a boat ride at either the Pictured Rocks (Munising MI) or the Apostle Islands (N of Ashland WI).

I really like the area north of Duluth, along Lake Superior from Two Harbors to Grand Marais. So many nice waterfalls, trails, and shoreline. There's a FHU municipal CG by the lakeshore at Grand Marais, if you can get reservations. From there you can day-trip to all the state parks along there as well as a drive along the Gunflint Trail (very wild and pretty). Be sure to see Split Rock Lighthouse as well as Palisade Head (the latter is an overlook about 200' above the lake). In Grand Marais, I recommend a pizza at Sven and Ole's, and then a stroll out past the coast guard station to Artist's Point.

In the Dells for food, Ishnala is a must stop supper club. Mirror lake is the place to stay with in the Dells but it’s a state park and not a wide open rv resort. Stand Rock is nice and is open has a pool and is typical of the majority private parks in Wi and one of the nicer ones in the Dells.
Door County, Peninsula State Park is where we always stay but once again not an rv resort. The bay side is always more busy than the lake side. There are tons of restaurant and yelp should point you in the right direction. There are plenty of private parks but we have never stayed at any. It’s a neat area and we visit often. Fred and Fuzzys is a cool place to eat outside on a scenic little bay.
Up north or northern wi is full of lakes and is probably our favorite place to go in Wi. We always go to the Sayner/Boulder Junction area and always stay in the state forest. With a kayak you could fish lakes all summer and never get bored. Once again we never stay at private parks up there so can’t help there.
We have camped all over Wi so feel free to send me a message if you have any other questions. We are heading your way this summer to Rocky Park

We always stay at Egg Harbor Resort. Door County has a Visitor's Guide with helpful information.
Our favorite restaurants in DC are the Cookery and Greenwood Supper Club in Fish Creek. Be sure to have the Prime Rib at Greenwood. Also the Bowling Alley in Sister Bay; yes the Bowling Alley and Wilson's in Ephraim for outdoor lunch and a view of the harbor.
I always recommend doing a Google search for `_______ tourism' and put the city, state or area in the blank and read what the specialists recommend.
