When we were there several years ago, they had movies for the kids along with several other kids activities, that got the little people out from under for a bit. Must go to the battlefield as it is mind blowing to see just where Custer picked to make a stand where there was no cover. The reality of the site overcomes any of the pulp magazine stories of the era.

Highly recommend Mountain View campground at Columbus. We stayed there last year on way to Alaska. Was one of the best cg we stayed in all summer. Immaculate shower rooms. Beautiful view looking toward the Beartooth Mountains to the south. Easy access from Interstate. Reasonable rates.
We have also stayed in Hardin a couple times. Good overnight spot and excellent County Historical Museum--Big Horn County.

I would never stop at the KOA in Billings. Attempted to stop there some years ago. All I wanted to do was dump and sleep. I didn't even want to hook up. I was getting all of these questions asked. eventually my price was $55.00 I left and Wal-Marted that night. That was back in 2003. I would hate to see the prices today. As I remember there wasn't even a tree on site.

A little further to the west is the Spring Creek Campground just south of Big Timber. Great park on the Boulder River. Lots of grass, FHUs and nicely spaced sites. I spent several days there last fall and was very impressed. Will definitely return.

billings trailer park is over priced but clean and quiet,fairly easy on and off the freeway.

I think you are referring to Itchkapa(sp) City Park in Columbus. We use it when in the area. Yes, it is dry, water on site, dump across the street at gas station. Nice, it is on the Yellowstone River. There is an RV park on the north side of I-90 at Columbus.

Billings KOA is alright for an overnight. Very tight spaces and can be noisy.

How about stopping in Columbus instead? There are a couple of places that look way more promising than Billings There is a city park that looks great except that its dry, and its right on the river.
