4 Mile Creek State Park

I thought I would make a post about 4 Mile Creek State Park on Lake Ontario in Youngstown, NY for those of you that have considered camping there or are considering camping there. My wife and I, along with another couple spent three nights there recently and it was an awesome campground. Although it's a NY State Campground, it had the feel of a private Campground minus sewer and water hookups and only 30 Amp service on about half of the sites. The roadways within the campground are all paved. Our site was number 25 (outside part of loop and woods behind us)and was HUGE! I measured it to be 60 feet wide X 90 feet deep with gravel where your rig is parked and grass on the rest of the site. There are enough trees to provide shade but it's a very open campground so there's a lot of sunshine area too. I've never camped where the sites were so big before. It was also extremely level. There was no need to level left or right. Just front to back and even then, I only had to raise the jack about an inch. the campground accommodates everything from tents to Class A motor homes and is pet friendly. The sunset over Lake Ontario was very impressive and we had a beautiful view of Toronto. Parking at other nearby State Parks (Niagara Falls and Old Fort Niagara) is free for campers at 4 Mile Creek. If you're a history buff, Old Fort Niagara is about three miles away and fun to learn about the war of 1812. Niagara Falls is about 15 minutes away. The only negative was the camp store wasn't very impressive but you're close enough to major retailers that it wouldn't be a problem. Highly recommended for all types of campers!

Only negative is that the apples were all rotten.

We used to live near the park. It was where we did our very first campout after buying a Starcraft Meteor (8' popup) and our boys were 4 & 8 years old! If you like Four Mile, I suggest you also go to Hamilin Beach SP which is located on Lake Ontario just west of Rochester. It was our favorite park to go to when our two sons were growing up due to the nice beach, lots of paths & roads for riding bikes, a nature trail, etc. And, we used to enjoy going into Hamlin for pizza and an ice cream stop!

Mr. Camper, I don't think that's many minuses. It's a State Park. None of the State Parks that I've visited have individual water hookups or sewer hookups and very few have had 50 Amp service.

If you think that is a lot of minues - you better not try camping at an Ontario Provincial Park! Bigger bucks for less bang than NY S.P.'s

Thank goodness that is your opinion. In one right now on the shores of Lake Huron for a week, been glorious!

If you love mowed lawns you'll love 4 Mile Creek. Great for visiting NY State and going shopping but not much more. Just MHO.

Tripalot: Thanks for the info on Apple Grannies. Just my luck, we just returned from there (Four Mile Creek SP) two weeks ago. Loved it.

Very nice park and very accommodating young attendants at the gate. Posted my positive review on RV Park Reviews. Great area and super nice people. Just sorry we hadn't done this before.
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

Thank you for posting your review over there. Quite a few if us use TA to plan our trips. Sounds like a place we would enjoy:w

When we camp we prefer the creature comforts. That's why we don't stay overnight at national, state and provincial parks. We visit them whenever we can but stay where it's comfortable.

We stayed there in 2011 and agree! The only thing you didn't say was that if you stay at Four Mile Creek State Park you get free parking at Niagra Falls because it's also a state park.

Yes, he did mention that!
We have been going to 4 Mile Creek SP since the early 70's. It is a very nice park as stated. We enjoy poking around Lewiston and sometimes go to Apple Grannies for their prime rib dinner. We haven't been for a couple of years now so don't know if it is still as good as it used to be.

Note - it is not Niagra but Niagara Falls! just like it sounds
