5th Stop, Yellowstone NP. our 48 day National Park tour
Today ends our stay at Mammoth Hot Springs CG. We leave Sunday for Glacier NP. Our 2 weeks in Yellowstone have been great. Sorta hate to leave but Glacier is calling.
Lots of wildlife and great scenery. Varied weather. T storms, hail, freezing mornings and highs in the mid 80's. This is Yellowstone!!!
I will post some pics taken while staying at Mammoth.
The Roosevelt Arch at the North Entrance.
The Orange Spring Mound at the Upper Terrace Drive.
Angle Terrace
Just south of Upper Terrace Drive on the road toward Norris was this mother Black bear with two cubs. One black, the other cinnamon like the mother.
The Black Cub must have been a male. He wanted to climb every tree.
On a drive to Lamar Valley we took the gravel 6 mile Blacktail Plateau Drive and got a surprise.
On another day saw this Black Bear near the Petrified Tree road turn off.
We were in the Lamar Valley several times, so hard to place each sighting on a certain day.
Pronghorn
This guy posed for me.
Several scenes like this in the valley. Hundreds of Buffalo.
This guy had a large herd of females with calves.
The Golden Gate
Rustic Falls at the Golden Gate overlook.
Sheepeater Cliff
Hard to believe without a photo, but at our stop at the Gallatin Range over look, looking across the lake, on the far shore, a Grizzly bear was in the water pulling up roots to eat. Out of my camera range, but with my spotting scope, he was easily seen.
Stay tuned....Glacier is next week.
