I came across this website the other day. It's a really cool idea. Landowners can rent out part of their land to RVers. It's a lot like airbnb, but for us!RVwithMe.comI dig it cuz it gives us so many more place to camp, in places we never had access to before. Instead of land being bought up and privatized, now it's unlocked for us to use.I hope it catches on and lots of landowners decide to list their land so we can stay there.

I stayed at 8 different boondockerswelcome sites last year for a total of 11 nights and enjoyed each one very much. Some furnished everything; water, electric, sewer and wifi.

Interesting. I checked out the website and the first page listed two campgrounds that had a fee of $2,000 and $1,500 per week! Crazy! Others were much more reasonable $10-$50 per night.

They seem to mostly range $30-50 a night. That's pretty steep.

There was another site listed here a month or so that was specifically for vineyards. Pretty neat idea! However, I searched some of the spots by state on rvwithme. One was a private house in a suburban neighborhood.....can't imagine the neighbors would be too happy. Another was a spot on the city streets of Philadelphia listed specifically for the Popes visit last year. $375 per night for a spot that's not yours on a city street. Can you say scam?

This may be a new idea (scam) for rv's, but it's an old one for tenters. I traveled across the country this way 43 years ago. Several places in the south had ponds on the property and allowed me to catch my dinner and breakfast. I realize it was a different time back then and I was just out of the service but it was one amazing trip. Not one mile nor one minute was spent on an interstate. From NYC to Oregon and south through California and then to Florida (Clearwater) only four people refused my request.

Unfortunately, Mr.Camper those "good old days" are long gone.
Back in those times, hitch hiking was a convenient and for the most part, safe mode of transportation. However, today society as a whole is in a downward spiral. :(
