I may not be able to go camping there with my RV but it is still in my bucket list of place to see (or go tent. camping).

It might not happen but sure glad to know it will be kept in it's pristine condition.

Sure. Totally agree. But letโ€™s not point fingers at a group of people when we are are belching out twice as much as they are per person. That wouldnโ€™t be fair.

Wallabyโ€™s chart says it all. China has almost four times the people and yet only has double the emissions.

We canโ€™t really be asking their people to reduce their emissions until we reduce ours by at least half.

Think this is more representative of the impact each nation has on the total carbon emissions.

Each country's share of c02 emissions

China is nearly double the US. Im sure they would rather use the per Capita stat.

Interesting way to use statistics... per capita for CO2 emissions, instead of simply who is polluting more.

Depending on whoโ€™s data you reference, there are 10-12 countries that have emissions per capita higher than the US. The current leader in the world is Palau with >59 tons per capita. But their global contribution is near zero.

You said per capita is โ€œthe only fair wayโ€ to look at CO2 emissions, and Iโ€™m saying it is not. There are numerous ways to look at it, and per capita is just one of them. If the goal is to reduce global emissions, then you donโ€™t leave out the biggest contributor to global emissions thatโ€™s also increasing at the highest rate.

If per capita were were the only fair way, then itโ€™s clear what the US should do to make ourselves look better. Make more babies. Fertility drugs and viagra all around!

If per-capita emissions are the only fair way to do it, why are the dozen or so countries who have higher emissions per capita than the US left of that chart?

I donโ€™t agree with that assertion of fairness. The biggest contributors to global CO2 are the countries with the largest emissions numbers, of which the US is one. But China is at the top of that list. Itโ€™s more than double the emissions of the US, and any attempt to obscure that fact is misrepresentation.

Because, as the chart states, it is emissions by Capita.

Yes, China emissions are twice as high as the US, but they have four times the population.

I sure would like to see what you "adapt" proponents would do if your job suddenly disappeared. Nothing else here. Move I guess at this age from where you have spent your whole life to find a job paying 1/2 what you make now in a place you can't stand? Easy for those not affected, or independently wealthy to say that.

Nope. By Capita, which is the only fair way to do it, The US, Australia and Canada are the pigs of the planet. I think Austrailia has moved into "the lead" now.

It seems that those who want to keep the arctic tundra in pristine condition have no problems putting up wind turbines everywhere. Try driving the east end of the Columbia River Gorge. The wind turbines destroying the beautiful vistas are truly a disgusting blight.

Many of the solar and wind farms need workers including truck drivers and equipment operators during the construction. Some of the projects looks not to be completed for five to ten years. Power line contractors are needing truck drivers and equipment operators for extending transmission lines.
