I guess that’s where we differ then.
I think it’s entirely reasonable for all contributors to the production of co2 to contribute to its reduction. That’s called fairness in my world.

Sure. Totally agree. But let’s not point fingers at a group of people when we are are belching out twice as much as they are per person. That wouldn’t be fair.

We can’t really be asking their people to reduce their emissions until we reduce ours by at least half.

Each country's share of c02 emissions
China is nearly double the US. Im sure they would rather use the per Capita stat.

You said per capita is “the only fair way” to look at CO2 emissions, and I’m saying it is not. There are numerous ways to look at it, and per capita is just one of them. If the goal is to reduce global emissions, then you don’t leave out the biggest contributor to global emissions that’s also increasing at the highest rate.
If per capita were were the only fair way, then it’s clear what the US should do to make ourselves look better. Make more babies. Fertility drugs and viagra all around!

If per-capita emissions are the only fair way to do it, why are the dozen or so countries who have higher emissions per capita than the US left of that chart?
I don’t agree with that assertion of fairness. The biggest contributors to global CO2 are the countries with the largest emissions numbers, of which the US is one. But China is at the top of that list. It’s more than double the emissions of the US, and any attempt to obscure that fact is misrepresentation.
:):)
Because, as the chart states, it is emissions by Capita.
Yes, China emissions are twice as high as the US, but they have four times the population.

Problem is....no matter how much the United State cuts back on emissions, the biggest polluters are Russia, China ,India and they wont stop. So our sacrifice will not do much at all.
Nope. By Capita, which is the only fair way to do it, The US, Australia and Canada are the pigs of the planet. I think Austrailia has moved into "the lead" now.
