Anyone been to Maine 1st of May

Our 40th anniversary is first of May. We love Maine, however we usually go mid September to end of their season in October. Never been in May. Would we find most things open? I looked online and have found some campgrounds open but wondered about other things. Would be leaving on May 5 for two weeks.Temps around that time would be helpful also. Thanks in advance for any help.

May 1 --- Bring winter clothes. New England in general, lags the seasons because of our proximity to the ocean. We warm up later in the spring and cool down later in the fall.

Spring can be a real cr@p-shoot so be sure to come prepared for anything.

We visit Maine every summer. Most campgrounds/RV parks will not yet be open May 1st - some open Mother's Day weekend, many don't open until Memorial Day.

It's also still mud season in early May in some areas. (at least it's too early for black flies 😉 )

Check ahead before you visit.

We were into Maine very early in May in 2016. Check the CGs. Some don't open till mid month. Those we did find open were near empty & yes, the weather can be iffy.

Northern Maine, the weather could be hit or miss. You might even get snow !

As long as you're not talking Presque Isle, I think you'll be fine.

...I hope your right and it has been nice for this time of year. I guess I try not to get my hopes up and that way I wont be so disappointed.:)..OP should be fine.

We have been in May before. It was fine. No crowds, most things were open or in the process of opening. Everyone very welcoming. A few places not open.

I live here and our averages have been way off..Im hoping sometime in the middle of April it will be safe to fill my water tank and test plumbing exc in my new TT. We hope to go early May also. Send me a pm anytime. Be glad to let you no what is going on with the weather.

I believe you can go to the Weather Channel and put in the town/state and get the averages for any month of the year. or possibly just do a Google search.
