Anyone Remember Sherwood Forest CG in Myrtle Beach?

Hello, folks,

My wife has fond memories of camping as a child at Sherwood Forest campground at Myrtle Beach, SC. This was 30+ years ago, and the campground obviously does not exist anymore. I figured someone here might remember it, and know what happened to it or exactly where it used to be located? This is just a curiosity question, but I would appreciate any memories someone might have.

Thanks,
Regan

Actually it's simply Myrtle Beach Travel Park, it's not in North Myrtle Beach which is about 6 miles north of MBTP. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sure do! Our first camping trip to MB was in 1974. Stayed the Holiday Inn Travel Park which is now North Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Terryallan I believe is right. There used to be a little Mom and Pop parts place that used to sit in front of Pondersa CG. Had all the parts and were very friendly. If memory serves me correctly a plane crashed into that resort where Sherwood Forest used to be a couple of years ago. Something happened when it was approaching the NMB airport.

Hotels also. Our marriage has far outlived where we honeymooned on the south end of MB. As well as the south loop at HBSP after some hurricane got it. I guess thats why us oldy oldsters (our DD's term :)) have built in memories.

Actually PirateLand was first a theme park. With a Steam engine train, and Pirates attacking it, and fighting over girls, and things like that. Went there when I was about 9 years old, about 49 years ago.

Seems Sherwood was in North Myrtle Beach beside the Ponderosa CG. When it closed the owner moved it to PirateLand. There is a resort where it was in North MB.

There was at one time many CGs at MB. I hope they don't close any more.

I'm not sure about Sherwood Forest but I do remember Arrowhead which was located on the same road as MBTP and Apache. The owners sold and there are condos there now.
Happy Trails!!
