- CampinghossExplorer IIWe went in October. We stayed at Whispering Hills in Georgetown which is a great cg.
I would allow at least 6 hrs and more if you really want be laid back and enjoy. We were there closer to 8 hrs but we ate in the restaurant on site and did the zoo too. If you want to do the zip lines I know it would take a full 8 hrs.
Well worth the time to see. - dewey02Explorer IIWe went just this past October.
We stayed at Big Bone Lick State Park (great little park with Wooly Mammoth and Mastadon bones!) and a herd of buffalo.
I would agree with Cameo Phil on spending 4 to 6 hours or perhaps a full day. We took our time and visited almost everything, including the zoo. It also depends on when you go. We went in mid-October during a weekday. Kids were in school and big tourist season was over. If you go on a weekend and during tourist season, you will experience much larger crowds and therefore more wait time/standing and waiting to view exhibits. It is truly and incredible experience, and what I liked is that the exhibit never says "this is exactly how they did it", but rather it says "these are some plausible ways that they COULD have done it." Things like harvesting water from the rain on the roof to fill urns, pumping fresh air throughout, etc.
You may also want to visit the (relatively nearby) Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY as well.
Some photos to give a perspective on the size of the Ark: - PawPaw_n_GramExplorerA couple of our friends went this past summer, and stayed three days. Visiting the exhibits all day for two of those days. Said they wished they has spent more time there.
- Cameo_PhilExplorerI have been there and toured the Ark Encounter. I would allow at least 4 to 6 hours. The Ark is huge and if you take the time to look at all of the displays and understand the message, it will take the full 6 hours. It should not be too crowded at this time of the year.
There is also a bus ride from the parking lot/entrance area that will take approximately 1/2 hour from the time you arrive. It is well worth the trip.
