Bahia Honda State Park Reservation Tips??

We are wanting to travel to Key West and are looking strongly at this location. Apparently it is a highly desired park and reservations on the water are hard to get. We are looking at the end of May into June of next year and our dates are very flexible.

So what are the tricks to getting a waterfront spot?

Those sites have the water connection at the front corner of the site for some reason. It would be smart to bring 100' of hose.

I don't know what happened, but I checked the site again and it was available. It is not now being we have it. 🙂

We are in site #17 for 7 nights.

With a 34 FT, MH you can fit in any site at BH.

I got beat on this one, but it comes back up again in 3 days. There are only 4 sites that will work with my motorhome and the dates all come up in the next few weeks.

Will a 34'long and 12'10" tall motorhomes get into the park OK? A lot of the sites are very short.

Try several times per day, various times. Cancellations are applied live so site pop up. I also check a month or so before as thats when people find out they can't go and cancel.

The other reality is to reserve anything that pops up and re-arrange your schedule to go. Trying to get Easter weekend, etc will be impossible.

You should be able to reserve up to two weeks I think....

This is how I started checking today. I adjusted my dates back and forth with no luck. If I check again tomorrow will I be able to reserve a certain amount of days or just the one day.

Keep trying every day to grab a cancelation.

Please don’t blame us Floridians. We are in the same boat as the rest of the country when it comes to getting a site.

It is simple math:

1. Number of State Parks in the Florida Keys: 4
2. Number of RV sites available in all 4 parks added together: 186
3. Number of Tent only sites. (can’t be used for RV’s): 30
4. Number of people from all over the country that want to camp in the Keys? Lots and a Lots and Lots!!

It's probably the most popular park in the state. Follow the advice above and you'll have some chance. All the sites are close to the water so I would not let that concern me. But the new RV area isn't all that beautiful, but being near the water is the most important thing. In June you should be able to get a spot at one of the commercial CG in the keys for only an arm. You have to throw in a leg during the winter season.
