Baltimore area campground

Can't think of the name offhand, never stayed there, but there is a KOA just off of I97 about 8 miles S of BWI.

If you don't need to be going into the city everyday there are a couple of decent state parks across the Bay Bridge. Tuckahoe SP a few miles E of Denton a little off of 404 & Martinak SP immediately S of Denton.

Martinak is our favourite. Quiet. 6 minutes from a Walmart. 5 minutes from a Food Lion. An Autozone & strip mall all 6 minutes away. Laundry & restaurants in Denton. It is our first stop coming out of storage at the beginning of a trip & our last stop before going into storage at the end.

Traffic on the Bay Bridge can be horrendous. Don't be eastbound on a Friday or westbound on a Sunday. Weekdays avoid it normal rush hour times as you would around any major city. Once across the bridge the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake is a whole nuther world. The further down the DELMARVA you go & the further from the few major roads the further back in time you go. They even talk like Olde English over there.

Just crossed the bay bridge the beginning of October. Have friends who live in Millsboro DE and visit every other year, stay at Delaware beach south.

Patapsco State Park in Catonsville and Ramblin Pines in Woodbine come to mind. That KOA is in Millersville. There is also Long Bar Harbor in Abingdon. Abingdon is closest to Johns Hopkins. For your purposes, I'd really have to be desperate to fight the Bay Bridge traffic. Congrats and best wishes to your daughter.

Patapsco state park is decent if you don't need full hook ups.It is your closest place but still not that close. 30-45 min. away from Hopkins Millersville KOA or Bar Harbor are your next options they are a little farther away.
Woodbine or anywhere across the bay bridge are too far away.
Bay bridge is under construction and should be avoided at all cost

We always stayed at Merry Meadows in Freeland and liked the large Flagpole sites as being at altitude and relatively isolated.
This makes sense if Johns Hopkins is on the north side of town. You don't want to have to drive thru/around Baltimore at any time.

Are you looking for a long term spot for your daughter to live? Or somewhere short term for you to visit?

The options presented above are mostly all excellent (sorry, but anywhere in DE is too far for me). But not all allow long term spots.

The next generation has taken over at Merry Meadows. They changed the name probably to hide the fact that it had terrible reviews before they took over. We stayed there to visit our daughter while she was at McDaniel and never went back.
I have never seen so many rules in my life. Every time someone did something they didn't like they made a sign about it. There was even one sign about the size of an old wooden coat rack standing on a empty concrete pad and it read something to the effect of no playing, dancing only. That one made me laugh out loud, like 3 year olds can read.
Hopefully it's better now, the location is good for the OP.

that is a tough area to find a good campground without a lot of traffic to get to Johns Hopkins. If you are retired or active duty military, Aberdeen Proving Ground has a great campground as well as Ft. Meade. Otherwise Abingdon is probably your best bet. Be careful going downtown to Johns Hopkins.

Agree. We have a bunch of grandkids in the area and stay at Aberdeen Proving Ground all the time - great place. It's hard to get away from Baltimore traffic no matter where you are, though.
